Trouble Reading? - View This Newsletter Online

This month we had a great experience being featured on New Idea TV. If you missed the segment then you can watch it here on our blog.

Lena, our Northern Beaches teacher, explains some of the benefits of using baby sign and there is some wonderful footage of babies using sign in the class.

Monthly Article Section:

This months article about toilet training came about after speaking with a mother and her problems toilet training her child. I found a lot of similarity between teaching baby sign and toilet training so I put together this guide to toilet training, including some very useful references for training games and rewards that may help you through.

Check out all the article listings from previous newsletters here or the latest blog posts listed on the right.

Your Stories:
Thanks very much to Jane from Lara Victoria for sending in her baby sign story regarding her son Kaelen.

"Well, after 4 months my son finally signed to me!! He is now 10 months old and today I asked him if he wanted his drink or "eat" (food).

I did the sign for each, holding the relevant item, then held them both up and he signed "eat"! I nearly died so triple-checked just to be sure that's what he'd done. Sure enough, each time, he said "eat".

After a while, he changed his sign and, whilst it looked as if he was waving, I realised his hand was stiff so I held up his drink and he reached out for it - he was, as I suspected, signing "drink"!

I told my family and friends that Kaelan had started to sign back to me but, whilst they politely nodded, I don't think they believed me....until my sister gave him his dinner one night and he signed to her!."

New Baby Signing Classes:

Join one of our teachers for a fun interactive baby sign class and get to meet other baby signers in your area. While our teachers are based in a particular territory, if you live in a neighbouring area and have a group of friends/mothers who are interested in attending a class, our teachers can come to you.

To organise your own class, we need a minimum of 5 attendees for the class. Contact your nearest teacher today and organise a class for your mothers group or group of friends.

Our teachers are also available to come to your childcare centre to conduct an in-house training session on how to implement Baby Hands in your centre. Childcare centres around the country have been experiencing the benefits of baby sign language for both staff and their children. Contact our teachers today and let us help reduce frustration in your centre.

We are currently looking for teachers around the country.
