The crazy weather that weekend was certainly something else though.

The hail was so bad my mid day talk getting stopped because of hail coming through the roof on top of the audience who were bravely trying to ignore it. Still it made for a very interesting experience getting hailed on indoors:-)

Many people believe that once their baby has moved out of the official "baby age" and become a toddler they are to old for baby sign.

This month though we look at Toddler Tantrums & Toddler Training and how baby sign is very useful for dealing with the terrible two's.

I think they are so cute and have the funniest slogans on them across a whole range of colours and sizes.

My favourite is the ipoo jumpsuit (featured below) and also "Give Peas a Chance" which I had to buy because of a private joke. Dee, Joe's mother, hates peas and whenever they are at our house for dinner my husband Gary will always hide some under food on her plate to wind her up (typical boy).

"My son Joshua was born with a complete bilateral cleft lip and palate - because of this we had read that he may have difficulties with speech. One of my good friends who had also used some signs with her son as a baby suggested to me that I try them out with Joshua.

She taught me more and finished, I think from memory that Josh was about 6-7mnths old when I started with these 2 signs. That same friend was looking after Josh for me one day, when I returned she asked me if I had taught Josh any signs as when she was playing a game with him he kept patting his chest - wanting more!!

Josh does “more” and “finished” and also does “eat” - by putting his finger in his mouth. Just the other day I was at my older sons swimming lesson and Josh was in the playpen when he saw the lolly snakes being handed out - well he frantically and repeatedly patted his chest and put his hand out in an attempt to tell the swim teacher that he wanted a snake too!!

Using the basic signs has definitely made our life easier as Josh can communicate with us.
