HI Jackie, this is a rough translation of your appearance in the tv show. I did it very quickly but that’s pretty much it: “I teach kids to use words useful to their needs, such as eat, drink. It’s important to also use practical and motivational signs (showing good bye). I also use songs because research shows that if you sing to your child he/she is more likely to remember the signs. From the age of 5 or 6 months a baby can hold a toy without help and they can physically use their hands to communicate. It’s a perfect opportunity to start communicating with them. Because sign language uses both hemispheres of the brain it could also encourage early speaking in children.”

Hi Jackie I am not sure if someone else has done so already but here is a translation for your CNN interview.

Reporter: …Australia not only wants to win the hearts of the young ones through widely popular characters like the Wiggles. But it also, wants to be recognised in the international baby market through expos like this one. And what is more international than the language of signs. Jackie Durnin based her work in sign language do develop a dictionary that would allow a fluid communication with babies that are only a few months old.
Jackie: I teach people how to incorporate in their daily routine signs like food or drink. As well as practical signs it is also important to teach signs that motivate and communicate encouragement to the child.
I also utilise songs, researchers have highlighted that when signing while singing there is an increased likelihood of remembering those particular signs.
Reporter: These techniques can be commenced from very early on.
Jackie: From the 4th or 5th month of age, babies can hold a toy without any assistance. Therefore, the baby is physically capable of using his/her hands to communicate. This is the perfect opportunity to start communicating with them.
Reporter: something that also contributes to promoting verbal communication.
Jackie: since both hemispheres of the brain are utilised to sign language; it has been highlighted that sign language is actually beneficial and accelerates the process of speech.

1st answer:
