Baby Hands Features On Today Tonight

Our newest baby sign teacher Avonna was recently asked to do a piece for Today Tonight in Adelaide.

I think Avonna did a wonderful job as she didn’t look at all nervous despite the fact that they were filming one of her very first classes, so well done Avonna.

You can check out the short clip below where parents are interviewed about their experience with baby sign as well as featuring some signing babies at various Baby Hands Classes.

If you would like to know more about Baby Hands Classes or contact any of our Baby Sign Teachers to find out more information about classes in your area you can contact them directly through the information on their page.

Interesting to note that not all signs are babyhands ones. There were American signs featuring as well – ‘more’ and ‘water’ to name a couple.

    Hi Mark,

Well spotted. Some of the mums that they interviewed had been learning sign through American books prior to us starting our classes in Adelaide where the story was filmed and Today Tonight also got some stock footage of signing babies (which we didnt know about) using ASL signs that they cut in.

As I put in one of my posts Auslan or ASL – Whats the best Sign Language? there are still a significant number of parents who do not even realise there is any difference between any sign languages at all.

The result in communication between parent and child can ultimately be the same whether using Auslan, ASL or even your own made up signs but using the same signed language as the Deaf Community of Australia opens up more people to a new culture and real language as well as being transferable between parents, childcare workers, nursery’s etc so everyone is “speaking the same language”.

    All the best

    Jackie
