I recently read an article which highlighted in a table the differences between a signing baby and their non-signing counterpart in language acquisition. This table appeared on an American blog called Baby Sign Shine and I thought it would be great to share it with all you Aussie parents and create an Australian version of the table below. When it comes to baby sign language things have changed a lot since I first started Baby Hands over 5 years ago.
In the early days virtually nobody in Australia had heard of baby sign language and most parents assumed it was something for Deaf babies and not something they needed to bother with. (more…)
